Valley Pre-School Open House Highlights What Makes It Special
And Announces New Programs and Website
On Saturday January 26th, families from Granby and its surrounding towns attended Valley Pre-School's annual Open House. This year's format reflected a change from years past. As parents arrived with their preschoolers ready to immerse themselves in the myriad of activities, they were given a card bearing the words Discover the Difference and then encouraged to do so. The main hallway of the school was adorned with large informational picture boards detailing the unique qualities that distinguish the school. Responsive, relevant curriculum, our cooperative, imagination takes flight, our giving grandparents, and forever faculty were some of the characteristics detailed. Current parents were readily available to talk with prospective families about their Valley Pre-School experience. The teachers created environments within the classrooms to give a flavor of the daily atmosphere, and were present to meet the children and answer specific questions about Valley's program. Alumni Molly, and her mom, puppeteer Audrey Laird were there with Barnacle Bart, the pirate puppet to engage and entertain the children. Even Socrates, the new baby guinea pig, was on hand to receive the gentle touches of all those precious little fingers.
Information was given to visiting parents detailing program changes for the coming year. In addition to the 2-day three year-old program and 3-day four year-old program, a 5-day four year-old program as well as the Catapult program will be available. Catapult is an extended day option on Wednesdays for 4 year olds in six-week mini-sessions covering a variety of topics.
All throughout the morning, just outside the school doors, the sun shone brightly through this year's ice sculpture, an annual creation by Valley Pre-School children and alumni. Within the school doors, the energy was great, the conversation lively and the activity joyful.
